Moldavian pies with cabbage

Verzere – this is the name of these delicious, crispy, unusual Moldovan pies. They are prepared quite simply, the filling can be any – sweet and savory. The dough tastes like puff pastry, but much softer. I made Moldovan pies with cabbage. Delicious!

To prepare Moldovan pies with cabbage you will need:
flour – 2 cups;
vegetable oil (refined) – 0.5 cups;
water – 0.5 cups;
salt – 0.5 tsp;
raw egg yolk – for lubrication;
stewed cabbage – for stuffing.
The capacity of the glass is 250 ml.

Pour water and vegetable oil into a deep bowl, add salt, mix. Gradually add the sifted flour.

Knead the dough. The dough will be very soft, tender, elastic.

Wrap the dough in cling film or cellophane and leave for 20-25 minutes.

Prepare the filling for pies: any, according to your taste. I made stewed cabbage.

Divide the dough into 14-15 pieces.

Roll each part into an oval with your hands, and then, using a rolling pin, into a rectangle, about 20 cm long, about 10 cm wide. The dough is very obedient, pliable and does not tear, despite the fact that it rolls out quite thinly. Put 1 tablespoon of filling on the edge.

Fold the edges of the dough inwards.

And roll up the verzere with a tube or an envelope.

Put the pies prepared in this way on a baking sheet covered with parchment. Lubricate with yolk.

Bake wonderful, tender Moldavian pies with cabbage in an oven preheated to 200 degrees for 20-25 minutes – until golden brown. Let the pies cool and you can surprise your loved ones!

Enjoy your meal!
