How to deliciously stew cabbage?

Stewed cabbage is not only tasty, but also very healthy, because in the process of cooking, cabbage almost does not lose its beneficial properties. It can be stewed on its own and served as a side dish for meat dishes, or you can also add potatoes or other vegetables, mushrooms or meat, but it will already look like a stew. Today I am happy to share a classic recipe for delicious stewed cabbage.

Ingredients:

White cabbage 1 kg
Onion 1 pc.
Tomato juice or fruit drink 1 cup (or 2 tablespoons of tomato paste + water)
Vegetable oil for frying
Salt and ground black pepper
Bay leaf
Recipe for stewed cabbage:

1. Chop white cabbage into strips. This can be done very quickly with a special knife for shredding cabbage.
2. Finely chop the onion and fry over medium heat for several minutes.
3. Add cabbage to the onion, mix, pour about half a glass of hot boiled water and simmer for 15-20 minutes under a closed lid.
4. Then pour in tomato juice or tomato paste diluted with water and add salt to taste. Cover the cabbage with a lid again and simmer for another 20-25 minutes.
5. 5-8 minutes before cooking, you can add spices. I add ground black pepper and bay leaf. You can use others to your taste: peppercorns, a pinch of a mixture of Italian herbs and others
This cabbage side dish is so easy and simple to prepare, which you can eat as an independent dish!
