Bai Long Zhu

It is known that the symbol of China from time immemorial is the dragon. He is deified, glorified and deeply respected, because for the Chinese, he is not only the personification of magic, strength and power, but also a symbol of protection, honor and nobility. Praising the dragon, the Chinese named only the most worthy objects, structures and, of course, their cult drink – tea – after him.

For more than 5,000 years, the Chinese have been cultivating tea plantations, with unique, rare and ancient varieties that are suitable for their favorite type of tea – white tea, a truly imperial drink that prolongs life and rejuvenates the body. The value of white tea is enormous, therefore, varietal bushes intended for a medicinal drink were carefully protected from the scorching sun, from the withering wind and hail. Previously, Bai Long Zhu white tea was simply used as a magical restorative elixir, intended only for the nobility and the emperor’s family, but later, appreciating the taste of the drink, it began to be used more widely. However, Bai Long Zhu is not only rare, but also elite high-quality tea, which, of course, very wealthy people can afford. Bai Lun Zhu promotes cell renewal in the body, and its unearthly taste and aroma envelops in haze, accelerating the transition of the mental-astral body into the labyrinths of consciousness, which is why it is very loved by Buddhist monks.

History of creation

There is a legend about the creation of the name of this wonderful drink. In the Chinese province, next to the tea plantations where the farmers worked, there lived a dragon. The Chinese loved him very much and respected him, because he protected them. They brought him seafood, and he protected the Chinese from the enemy, and rare tea bushes from thieves. The dragon was very large and practically did not rise into the sky, but the enemy was still afraid of him and did not risk coming close to the imperial tea bushes. It was always like this, until, one day, a sizzling heat reigned over the mountain plantations, which destroyed not only a valuable crop, but also people, drying up reservoirs and soil. People prayed to heaven, with a prayer, to grant them the long-awaited moisture, and the dragon, watching the disaster of the Chinese people, decided to help them. Suddenly the skies darkened, lightning flashed, the wind rose, the long-awaited coolness came. People looked at the sky and saw that their protector – the dragon, with its huge wings, was catching up clouds, from which, at last, the long-awaited rain poured in a stream. The dragon stayed in the sky for so long that all the vital reservoirs were filled with water, and the earth absorbed the necessary moisture. Exhausted by a long stay in the air, the dragon sank to the ground, and the bright sun lit up the sky, coloring the blue sky into multi-colored stripes of the rainbow. Grateful tea farmers named the tea produced by those bushes rescued by the dragon after their savior “White Dragon Pearl”. Pearls, in the name, are associated with the disinterested nobility and self-sacrifice of the dragon, who preserved rare tea bushes, from the leaves of which fragrant white tea was obtained, and also with the fact that the emperor himself presented large white pearls to Chinese peasants because they preserved it healing drink. And that is why manufacturers began to twist tea leaves tightly into small peas, so similar to pearls. This is the legend about the origin of the name Bai Long Zhu “White Dragon Pearl”, a charming and unique white tea.

Cultivation and production

Rare varietal bushes, which are sometimes more than 300 years old, are grown on the mountain surface. For Bai Long Zhu, only a special variety of tea tree “Fuding Dahao Cha” is grown. The collection is made in April, only the upper young two leaves and a bud covered with a delicate whitish fluff are torn off. Production is kept in strict secrecy, however, briefly about the complex and painstaking production of elite high-quality white tea can be told. After harvesting, the leaves are carefully laid out and dried, then briefly fried. After roasting, they are dried and twisted into tight peas – pearls. Finished dry products are very similar to ornamental onyx beads, gray-brown with whitish stripes – streaks.

Brewing process and tea ceremony

Bai Lun Zhu is the highest grade, brewed only with pure soft filtered or spring water, in a glass, porcelain or clay teapot. For the first time, it is worth trying to brew in a glass teapot, then you can observe the mystery of opening tea pearls. They, as if dancing, slowly blossom, exuding with each new coil, a magical fruity-floral aroma. The process is fascinating and makes you think about the essence of the universe. You need to brew quite a bit, somewhere a teaspoon of valuable peas per teapot of hot (70 – 80ºС) boiled water. You can not pour boiling water, the taste and aroma will deteriorate, valuable oils and substances will be lost. This variety, like many other Chinese teas, is drunk without sugar, lemon or milk, and also not drunk with sweets and sandwiches. Do not forget that white tea, during the Tang Dynasty, was considered not only a delicious drink, but an elixir of life, a cure for many, sometimes incurable diseases, and, as you know, no one seizes medicine. Its rich flavor range will give pleasure, already from one smell. The color of the infusion is golden, like the morning sun, thick, delicate herbal taste, slightly tart, but sweet, with a fresh floral aroma, smoothly turning into a persistent fruity, this happens when brewing again, and you can repeat about 5 – 7 times.
