Tan Tian Slap

Basic Instructions: The dan tian patting exercise is a modification of the Xingyi (Form and Thought) martial arts patting exercise, an important branch of martial arts cultivated since ancient times. Assume the Shaolin Pillar Pose, then raise your arms above your head with palms facing down, and in the next movement move your arms from your chest down until they are crossed in front of the dan tian. At the same time, visualize both the yang qi collected from Heaven and the yin qi received from Earth moving through the body to the middle dan tian (located 1.5 cun (the universal unit used in acupuncture) below the navel), where they mix and condense

This exercise can also be done in a different way: the arms are raised horizontally across the sides of the body with the palms facing up and the fingers slightly apart. Then, using the right and left palms, perform alternating patting movements on the stomach, and finally, placing the right hand on top of the left on the stomach and relaxing, concentrate the mind on the dan tian for a while. Beginners can do the exercise by breathing naturally and coordinating the breathing rhythm with the movements of the exercise; masters can perform abdominal breathing. Repeat movements 9-18 times.

Healing effects: Yang Qi of Heaven and Yin Qi of the Earth, will help to tidy up the Yin and Yang of the body and maintain a balance between them. This exercise enriches the Dan Tian Qi, improves the functions of the spleen and stomach, strengthens the lower back, and tones the kidneys.
Indications for use: Poor appetite, indigestion, urinary and stool incontinence, enuresis, pollution, impotence and paralysis of the abdominal muscles.
