Polydrug addiction

Polydrug addiction is probably the most severe form of addiction, it is expressed in the systematic use of several psychoactive substances at once. Polydrug addiction begins to develop from the time when the addict has not yet inclined his choice in favor of a particular substance, but is in an active search for the drug that brings him the greatest satisfaction.

Consider the most common example of the emergence of polydrug addiction. Usually, at the beginning of their drug “career”, people prefer the plan (marijuana), as a substance that, according to many, does not pose a particular health hazard. Then, when the plan no longer brings the desired pleasure, the addict switches to harder types of drugs, but does not refuse the plan, since it is an enhancer of the action of other psychoactive substances.

The treatment of drug addiction (drug addiction) in Kyiv is at a fairly high level, because the capital city is the largest black market for drugs in the country, so the topic of professional rehabilitation of drug addicts is very relevant here, and polydrug addiction, for a number of reasons, is a problem that can be solved only by highly qualified specialists.

So why is polydrug addiction so dangerous? First, the withdrawal syndrome after the systematic use of several drugs at once has a set of withdrawal symptoms that is much more extensive than in cases with one specific substance. Withdrawal is almost unpredictable and represents the consequences of the interaction of different substances, which are often highly undesirable to combine. Poisoning the body with toxins during this interaction is also much stronger. Also, much more damage is done to the brain, and as a result – a decrease in the level of intelligence, memory impairment, degradation of the personality as a whole. Also, polydrug addiction is often accompanied by mental disorders, hallucinations, schizophrenia, persecution mania.

If addiction treatment is not started in time, polydrug addiction leads to irreversible consequences and it is almost impossible to return a person to their previous state.
