Why fall out women’s hair and what to do about it?

It is generally accepted that hair loss is a problem that affects mainly men, but women can also suffer from it. Let’s see why hair falls out in women and how to deal with it.

To begin with, it is worth finding out whether hair loss is a pathology. We lose up to a hundred hairs a day, and this is considered the norm. Experts suggest conducting a simple test: pay attention to whether there is a white knot (bulb) at the end of the fallen hair? If not, then you don’t have to worry about falling out yet. If there is, then do not wash your hair for two to three days, and then pull the hair at the crown and temples. Are there more than five hairs left in your arms? It is worth contacting a trichologist. In any case, only a specialist will be able to give you an exact answer whether it is worth worrying about the loss or is it an absolutely natural process.

The fact is that active hair loss can be one of the first signs of any diseases or disorders in the body. Therefore, before dealing with the consequences (hair loss), it is worth finding out the cause. Most likely, by eliminating it, you will also solve the problem with hair.

Causes of hair loss in women

All causes of hair loss in women can be divided into two groups: telogen baldness (when the hair falls out gradually) and anagen alopecia (that is, sudden baldness).
Anagenic alopecia

This is a sudden loss of hair, most often caused by exposure to strong chemicals or drugs, as well as radiation. It is this type of baldness that is observed during chemotherapy. As a rule, with a slight impact, the activity of the hair follicles is subsequently restored.

Features: There is no specific treatment for this type of hair loss. Hair growth resumes after the cessation of harmful effects.

Telogen baldness

Telogen baldness может протекать как в острой, так и в хронической формах. The difference is that acute baldness lasts up to six months and then goes away. The chronic form of telogen baldness can last more than six months and sometimes does not go away even for several years.

Features: With this type of alopecia, complete baldness does not occur.

Causes of telogen baldness can be:

1. Hormonal changes

Many women report thinning hair after childbirth. Increased prolapse may begin 1-4 weeks after birth and continue for several months. You should not be afraid of this: such a loss is most often associated with a change in hormonal levels, and can also be aggravated under the influence of stress, a decrease in plasma protein levels, and blood loss.

Features: Full recovery occurs 5-12 months after birth. In this case, as a rule, with subsequent pregnancies, all these changes become less pronounced.

For the same reason, hair loss can begin after the abolition of hormonal contraceptives or in girls aged 16–20 years, when androgens begin to be actively produced in the body.

2. Health problems

Hair loss can start after:

profuse blood loss;
acute infection;
high temperature;
previous surgery or injury;
diet or malnutrition.
In this case, most often they talk about episodic baldness. It takes about a year to restore normal hair growth. However, there is also a chronic form of baldness, when severe hair thinning occurs 2–2.5 months after the disease.

The reasons for this hair loss can be:

long-term medication (such drugs include cytostatics, retinoids, anticoagulants, anticonvulsants, and others);
lack of zinc and iron;
chronic diseases (rheumatoid arthritis, hepatitis, psoriasis, systemic lupus erythematosus, hyperthyroidism, tumors, and others);
severe stress (after stress, hair growth usually recovers spontaneously).
Sometimes the causes of hair loss include improper care (frequent use of a hair dryer, curling irons, irons, etc.), but experts agree that in most cases, external influences only exacerbate an existing problem, but are not an independent cause of baldness.

Treatment of hair loss in women

Before starting a course of treatment for hair loss, it is necessary to undergo a diagnosis and identify the cause of the problem, in each case the solution will be different.

For a more accurate diagnosis, you will likely need to do:

trichogram;
biochemical blood test (assessment of protein, lipid and carbohydrate metabolism);
blood test to determine vitamin, amino acid and the mineral status of the body;
hair analysis to assess mineral status.
It is very important to understand that recovery depends on the exact identification of the cause of hair loss. In some cases, as noted above, hair regrowth occurs spontaneously after the elimination of negative factors, changes in diet and rest. But there are cases when special treatment is indispensable.

In the treatment of hair can be used:

medicines for oral administration (for example, Proscar);
medicinal creams and lotions for topical use (based on minoxidil, etc.);
laser therapy (possible both in the clinic and at home using a laser comb);
scalp massage;
medical shampoos and masks against hair loss (for example, Nizoral);
homeopathy;
folk remedies for hair loss (burdock or castor oil, pepper mask, etc.).
Folk recipes for hair loss in women

Burdock or castor oil. Half an hour before washing your hair, rub the mixture (oil plus alcohol in equal parts) into your head. Apply 1-2 months. Another remedy: mix castor oil with the juice of a medium bulb and one yolk, apply to hair 45 minutes before washing and cover your head with a bag and a towel.

Orange peels. Add peels from 2-3 oranges to water, let it brew for three hours, and then wash your hair with this water. The tool helps to add shine and radiance and perfectly nourishes the hair.

Pepper mask. Grind 1 chili pepper and pour 100 ml of vodka. Insist for 2-3 weeks in a dark place. The resulting tincture can be added to conditioner, hair balm, mixed with oil or kefir. In its pure form is not used!

All these methods are aimed at achieving two goals: to stop hair loss and stimulate new hair growth. As a rule, specialists prescribe a complex treatment, which combines both medication and the use of special care products. This approach allows you to get a fairly quick and stable result (from six months to a year).

Remember that only a doctor can prescribe a competent treatment! In no case do not try to solve the problem on your own, so you can aggravate it even more, because almost any medicine has contraindications, and some of the methods may not suit you for certain reasons. reasons.

Hair transplantation

There are situations when neither drug therapy, nor physiotherapy, nor folk remedies can help stop baldness. A woman has significant bald spots on her head, her hair thins out and she has to go to various tricks – trying to hide flaws under intricate hairstyles and combs, using overhead strands, etc. In the end, all this hurts the pride and confidence of a woman, she ceases to feel attractive and desirable, withdraws into herself, refuses to appear in public. Naturally, this most negatively affects your career and personal life. It would seem that the only way out of the situation is to wear a wig. But it’s not! Modern medicine has stepped far forward and today offers effective and painless methods of hair transplantation.

The most delicate and innovative method is HFE (Hand follicul extraction). It consists in the fact that hair follicles are removed from the donor area of the patient with the help of a special micro-instrument (micropunch). Then this donor material is transplanted into the areas of baldness using a microimplanter. In this case, no incisions are made, each head is not injured. The only thing that may remain after the procedure is a slight redness in the transplant area, but this will also disappear in a few days.

In general, the procedure lasts several hours, depending on the area of the baldness zone. Local anesthesia is used. Immediately after the completion of the procedure, the patient can go home, the rehabilitation period is not required.

The transplanted hair follicles will soon take root, and the woman will grow beautiful hair again, at a natural angle, so that no one will ever guess that she was a patient of a hair transplant clinic.

In addition to HFE, there are other methods of hair transplantation, including graft transplantation (skin flaps with hair follicles are cut out and sewn into a new place), partially sutureless transplantation (follicles are removed without traumatizing the skin, but when they are implanted, micro-incisions are made with a scalpel). But if possible, it is better to choose the most modern and reliable method.
