5 rules for running on a treadmill

Treadmills give way to the romance of the big road. However, on frosty or rainy days, a treadmill can serve you well.

True, running on the track is still different from natural, so a few useful tips will not hurt beginners.

Warm up

Whether you’re running outdoors or on the treadmill, warming up is what you should do after you’ve said hello to your friends in the gym.

Do not start running without warming up to avoid the risk of unnecessary injury. It is necessary to warm up the muscles and ligaments before giving them a load. Also, a warm-up is not a stretch.

Track slope

If you are not going to storm the seven-thousanders, do not lean too much. A large slope provokes holding on to the handrails, and this reduces the load and contributes to its redistribution to other muscle groups.

A large slope also requires more concentration. If you have to hold on to the handrails, you are running too fast or the incline is too high.

Concentration

Do not turn your head around in search of acquaintances, TV or an instructor. Under normal conditions, when we run, we can turn and even veer off the path. But in the case of a treadmill, this is fraught.

If you want to watch TV while you run, it’s best to have it hanging directly in front of you. However, it is better to concentrate only on running and movement. This helps to avoid injury.

Progress

Even if you train on a treadmill, you need to change your training program so as not to delay progress. Intensity, incline, distance, and running time should become variable, not constant. To avoid stagnation, it is better to constantly experiment.

A computer

Although a lot of smart numbers and fat burning indicators can appear on the treadmill computer screen, you should not take everything for the truth.

These averages are calculated using mathematical formulas. They may not be suitable for every person with a unique metabolism. Focus on your feelings.
