Psychosomatic Diseases

The yogic science of relaxation has become a constant therapeutic companion, cooperating perfectly with other medical procedures in the treatment of even diseases such as cancer, asthma, colitis and stomach ulcers. In these ailments, the psychological factor plays an important role, sometimes even a leading one. Asthma attacks, growth of malignant tumors, exacerbation ulcerative symptoms, irritation of the colon or colon are often accompanied or are the result of a complex of psychophysiological reactions to emotional insecurity, intrapersonal stress, intrapsychic conflict, hypersensitivity, rejection, frustration and depression, and a deep emotional crisis. Yoga Nidra therapy leads to the conscious and subconscious recognition and splitting of these deep-lying psychological factors and liberation from their detrimental effects on the health and destiny of a person.

Alexitimya
More recently, scientists have found that psychosomatic patients most often suffer from repressed or exhausted fantasies. This condition is called alexithymia /suppressed function of the thymus gland/ and usually manifests itself as a utilitarian way of thinking and an inability to express deeper feelings and emotions in an adequate way. Instead, emotions that find no way out are suppressed and blocked, pushed deeper into the subconscious and formed there as psychosomatic neuroses that manifest themselves in the form of hypertension, colitis, asthma and eczema.
That is why this group of patients responds so well to yoga nidra. Such people, who previously suffered from blocked complexes, begin to experience symptomatic relief, they awaken inner experiences, visualize archotypical images that were suppressed and remained unknown. Patients perceive relief as a kind of miracle, because so far no means and no attempts have helped them ...

Asthma
Asthma - это состояние, характеризующееся атаками респираторного типа и сопровождающееся страданиями вследствие бронхиальных спазм и чрезмерных продуцирований густой и клейкой слизи в дыхательных путях. Both psychological and physiological factors contribute here. Studies and observations of asthma patients / adults and children / have shown that various stages and technologies of yoga nidra, which effectively affect muscle, emotional and mental relaxation, significantly lower the threshold of sensitivity if patients use yogic visualization techniques, sankalpa / self-affirmation / and others. These results are now appreciated. Improvement the well-being of patients and the objective data obtained as a result of clinical studies speak for themselves. Of course, the effect largely depends on the degree of advanced disease and the age of the patient, but even taking into account these factors, the percentage of recovery has increased significantly among those who practiced yoga nidra. And if some patients were able to significantly reduce their dependence on drugs, others completely abandoned them. One of the reports of researchers cited the following indicators: 18 out of 27 asthmatics found improvement in respiratory function, more free uncomplicated breathing after practicing yoga nidra, pranayama and other yogic kriyas, and 63% of patients in the process of retesting on a spirometer found a significant expansion of the bronchial tubes and voltage drop /4/.
The beneficial effects of yoga nidra were also confirmed by Texas pediatricians who treated difficult cases of asthma in young men. They were taught the art of self-relaxation and self-immersion in the world of beautiful images. After the children learned to independently apply yogic methods of self-healing, they were less likely to go to the doctors and, in fact, no longer needed hospitalization. All patients soon discontinued their medication without any sequelae. Improvement вплоть до выздоровления продолжалось около 7 месяцеin. One of the boys, who liked to draw himself running with clean lungs and breathing deeply, soon won a real-life horse race.

Colitis and gastric ulcer.
Irritations of the large intestine and colon, as well as ulcerative colitis, are two related psychosomatic disorders of the normal functioning of the large intestine, which gradually ulcerates and becomes thinner and thinner. Recurrent diarrhea is the main symptom of the disease. Although the cause must be sought in the psyche, the situation is aggravated by food abuse. The condition tends to flare up during times of stress and then go into remission after medical therapy. In some cases /more mild/, when there is a period of pre-exam diarrhea in students, the crisis passes quickly, while in others /service in the army, constant family troubles/ -chronic crisis can lead to an acute outcome and an attack.
Swedish scientists took part in the research of the Banaras Department of Ayurvedic Medicine University (India) and recorded the results in their report on the remission of symptoms of irritation of the colon, followed by 3 weeks of relaxation, while ulcerative colitis in a serious form was treated or effectively controlled by a daily program of special asanas, including Shava-sana, together with Ayurvedic treatment and prescribed diet.
A stomach ulcer is a condition of excess acidity and gastric excitability leading to mucosal erosion and gradual formation of an ulcerative fossa in the stomach wall or duodenal septum. Anxiety, vanity, low self-consciousness are predisposing factors that are accompanied by excessive consumption of gastric irritants such as cigarettes, alcohol and fatty foods laced with spices.
Ulcers respond most favorably to yoga nidra therapy and a regulating diet, both with and without medication, if the patient is separated for one month from the usual annoying environment and settled in a yoga ashram or hospital, away from home and office situations. So you can avert surgical intervention and keep the body intact.

Yoga Nidra in Cancer Therapy
Yoga nidra can be safely used in the treatment of cancer of all stages and types. It is especially successful when combined with meditation therapy. This refers to intense meditation in one of the cross-legged sitting postures, followed by shavasana along with yoga nidra. In these cases, a decisive balance is formed between concentration and relaxation. If concentration involves a certain effort, then relaxation is effortless.
Yoga nidra can be introduced into cancer therapy in a variety of ways. Thus, for example, one can relive past life events by extracting them from the subconscious in such a way that they can be recognized, experienced and discarded like trash. This leads to the strengthening of immune mechanisms and creates favorable conditions for psychophysiological opposition to the process of tumor cell growth. It is also good to use images and archetypal symbols to awaken repressed memories, experiences and fantasies. In the process of yoga nidra, prana (bioplasmic energy) is awakened, developed and absorbed by the body and distributed proportionally throughout the body. In Tantra this specific technique is known as prana vidya, which manifests itself in yoga nidra as its deepest stage, forming the basis of psychic, pranic and mental health. The bridge between yoga nidra and prana vidya gradually arises through conscious visualization, conscious projection, as well as personified healing forces and forms of various types. Healing can be visualized as a stream of light or energy directed into the physical body. Other options are also possible. It is possible to start with conscious imagination and yet actually experience a certain state of healing or pranic healing. One can finally use imaginative visualization creatively and imagine how the cancer shrinks more and more due to the attacks of white blood cells, which gradually destroy and break down the cancerous tumor. What happens in all these cases? - The subconscious will develops / sankalpa shakti /. To cure cancer requires an unshakable will and steadfast endurance. To achieve this, the sankalpa is cultivated, i.e. a kind of personal resolution /decision, statement/, which is like a seed thrown into the soil of the subconscious precisely at the most favorable time when relaxation becomes deep and it is already easy to penetrate the bowels of the subconscious. Our own numerous experiments have shown that when a seed germinates from the subconscious into consciousness, even the impossible turns into a possibility.

The research study of cancer is currently at a stage of development when it is necessary to determine when exactly to act
