Holidays that England loves
In England, there are many holidays, both global and original, rooted deep in the past. Now, in times of globalization, many holidays have become celebrated everywhere – for example, St. Valentine’s Day, which could not be called well-known before the advent of the Internet. Let’s see which holidays in England are the most interesting.

St.Patrick ‘s Day
This traditional holiday comes from Ireland. He is associated with one of the first Christian figures in the country. The traditional symbol is the shamrock and clover as an image of the Holy Trinity. On this day, many countries around the world wear green clothes and turn on Irish music.

Monarch’s birthday
The British respect and love their rulers very much, therefore the official version of the holiday, which has been celebrated since 1748, is quite popular. On the second Saturday of June, solemn official events are held – a parade, a review of troops and a big ball. At the same time, on the Queen’s real birthday, April 21, both the media and ordinary people congratulate Elizabeth II with joy, but without lavish celebrations.

Holiday in August
A very pleasant holiday that falls on the last Monday of the month. This day is devoted to family leisure – picnics and walks in the park.

Notting Hill Carnival
On the last Sunday of August, a large-scale street festival is held. Residents try to put on bizarre or outright strange clothes and dance to loud music. Numerous shops and stalls with food appear on the streets, street musicians and artists show bright performances in the middle of the crowd. Sometimes such events are subject to a certain theme – and then invited well-known performers perform oriental or gypsy music.

halloween
Every year on October 31 this Celtic holiday is celebrated on the eve of All Saints’ Day. This day is not a day off, but all the inhabitants of England are happy to put on evil spirits costumes and knock on doors, begging for sweets from the owners. The main symbolism of the festival is a pumpkin with a candle inside and an image of a face, which should protect from evil spirits. They call it Jack Lantern and the inhabitants annually compete in the skill of cutting, inventing new original forms of this attribute. Most brightly and noisily, with fireworks and bonfires, celebrate this day in Ireland, but in Scotland the holiday is less popular.

Guy Fawkes Night (Bonfire Night)
A very interesting English holiday, which is celebrated on the night of the fifth of November. Across the country, bonfires are kindled and fireworks are set off, burning an effigy named after Guy Fawkes. This man in the seventeenth century was the organizer of the Gunpowder Plot and wanted to blow up the building of Parliament, which is located in London. This day is called a kind of farewell to autumn and at the same time unnecessary things are thrown into the fire. Children ask passers-by for small coins “for Guy” and buy firecrackers, organizing noisy games.
