Customs

The customs regulations of the Czech Republic are very similar to the customs regulations of the countries of the European Union. If you are going to make a trip to the Czech Republic, do not forget that you will definitely have to go through customs control (both in Russia and in the Czech Republic). Therefore, knowledge of the customs rules of the Czech Republic will allow you to avoid rather unpleasant moments that may happen to you during this procedure.

When entering the Czech Republic (import):
1. Cash and payment instruments:
It is allowed to import up to 10,000 euros without declaring. The amount of 10,000 euros and more is subject to declaration. At the same time, cash should be understood as: cash (banknotes and coins), bearer checks, traveler’s checks, securities, short-term bills, etc.
(Tip: when calculating the amount of money you bring in, do not forget to take into account coins and all the money that you will have with you (in any currency). In the declaration, you must indicate all amounts separately, even if each does not exceed 10,000 euros. It is important that when converted at the rate used by customs, the total amount of all money exceeded 10,000 euros.
Important: You do not need to declare a bank card. The solvency of credit cards is supposed to be checked at the border if the necessary technical support is available.)
2. Goods exempt from customs duties, VAT and excise (i.e., you can import without payment):
– tobacco products (passenger must be 17 years of age or older): 200 cigarettes or 100 cigarillos (weight up to 3 grams) or 50 cigars or 250 grams of smoking tobacco;
– alcoholic beverages (passenger must be 17 years of age or older): 1 liter of strong alcoholic beverages with a strength of more than 22% or 2 liters of alcoholic beverages and aperitifs, champagne or sparkling and liqueurs with a strength of up to 22%. Additionally, you can bring 4 liters of wine (not carbonated) or 16 liters of beer;
– perfumery: 50 ml of perfume or 250 ml of eau de toilette;
– medicines: it is allowed to transport medicines necessary for the period of stay in the country;
– other goods: items for personal use necessary during the trip, duty-free up to 430 euros. For persons under 15 years of age, the duty-free baggage allowance is 200 euros. Items for personal use are understood as items and things that are used by a foreigner visiting the country, consume them or use them for their professional activities.
– motor fuel:
– in the fuel tanks of the vehicle;
– in portable canisters imported into the territory of the Czech Republic on a motor vehicle, in an amount not exceeding 10 liters.
3. Customs duties:
For passengers carrying goods that are clearly not commercial in nature, with a total value of up to 700 euros (from 430 – adult, 200 – child) per person through the customs border of the Czech Republic, a customs duty rate of 2.5% is applied. This rate does not apply to tobacco products, alcoholic beverages and perfumes in excess of the volume for which exemptions from duty and excise are established.
4. Regulation on the protection of animals and plants:
Without documents related to the protection of endangered species, 125 grams of caviar can be imported into the Czech Republic. If you are going to import something from the “Washington Agreement on the Protection of Species” or “EU Regulations on the Protection of Species” list into the Czech Republic, then the relevant documents will be required at customs. This must be taken into account when buying products made of ivory, tropical trees, tortoiseshell, orchids or cacti (because both the export and import of these goods require appropriate documents).
5. Import, export and transit of weapons, ammunition and explosives:
Import (export and transit) of explosives as non-commercial goods is prohibited.
With regard to individuals and legal entities visiting the Czech Republic for the purpose of hunting or participating in shooting competitions: It is allowed to temporarily import and carry on the territory of the Czech Republic weapons of Category A, B or C or ammunition for such weapons only if they have licenses and accompanying certificates. The certificate can be issued at the request of individuals and legal entities at the Embassy of the Czech Republic.
6. Export of objects of cultural value:
Objects of cultural value are allowed to be imported only if there is a certificate that they are not objects of cultural heritage. Archived documents can be exported with a certificate issued by the relevant archive.

The import of meat and dairy products is prohibited.
8. Importation of animals and birds
The import of birds is allowed only through the international airport of Prague!
