Macau is a special administrative region of China. And although a visa is required to visit the state itself, this condition does not apply to Macau. There is an agreement between the Russian Federation and this region on the mutual cancellation of visa requirements. This is due to the fact that Macau is an island territory of China with special autonomy, where its own legislative norms apply. The visa-free regime was introduced in order to increase the level of interest in this area and attract a large number of tourists. Therefore, Russians will not need a visa to Macau in 201/ if the trip lasts no more than 30 days.
An entry document should be issued in advance if a longer vacation, study or employment is planned. A visa is issued at the Embassy and Consulates General of China located in Russia, after providing a package of certain documents and paying a fee.

Visa-free entry
You can visit Macau without a visa only if the following conditions are met:

The purpose of the visit is tourism, a visit to relatives or friends, a business trip;
The trip will last no more than 30 days.
Mandatory documents are:
Passport with a “reserve” of 30 days.
Return ticket booking confirmation or already purchased tickets.
Tour voucher or hotel reservation.
Confirmation of material well-being, that is, the availability of funds for the trip.
Migration card with personal data of the traveler. The document is filled in advance, even before arrival in Macau. Usually the forms are handed out on the plane, where they can be filled out safely.

After payment of the fee and submission of documents, a stamp is placed in the traveler’s passport on entry into the country indicating the dates of travel. From now on, the guest has 30 days to stay in Macau. A multiple entry tourist visa is issued.

Upon arrival, you can issue other types of entry documents:

A transit visa for 48 hours is issued on the condition that the traveler has arrived in the country by air and has a ticket to another state. You will also need to confirm your hotel reservation. A transit visa is not issued if a foreigner arrived by plane and plans to leave Macau by ferry or bus. There is no visa fee for this type of entry document.
Group visa. Opens in case of group travel (from 10 participants). The fee for such case is 50 MOP per person.
Private visa. The visa fee for travelers entering the country as an individual is 100 MOP.
Family visa will cost 200 MOP. Issued if foreigners are traveling as a family.
For minors
When traveling with children in your arms, you should have:

Birth certificate of the child;
Passport of a minor or a passport of one of the parents where the child is entered. It should be borne in mind that children over 14 years of age must have a personal document to travel abroad;
Consent to leave Russia with notarization from the second parent, if the minor is traveling accompanied by only one parent;
Consent to leave Russia from both parents when the child leaves with third parties.

If it is not possible to provide consent, then a supporting document should be prepared:

Judgment on deprivation of parental rights;
Certificate from the police about the unknown location of the parent;
Death certificate;
Help for a single mother.

Extension of the period of visa-free entry

The residence of Russians in Macau is limited to 30 days, but in practice it is possible to extend this period. To do this, 7 days before the end of the trip, you need to contact the local immigration service and confirm that there are serious reasons to stay in the country for a longer time. Usually employees go forward and draw up an additional document. The rules allow to increase the period of stay up to 3 months.
