El Ahmadi

Al-Ahmadi (Arabic: مدينة الأحمدي‎) is a city in southern Kuwait. Included in the province of Al-Ahmadi. Population – 21,504 (1995).

Located 25 km from the capital of the country, 7 km from the coast of the Persian Gulf. Founded in 1946, named after Sheikh Ahmad (reigned 1921-1950). The city is the headquarters of the Kuwait Oil Company, which develops and produces oil, which is exported through the nearby port of Mina el-Ahmadi. The city has several sports facilities, including a stadium. Oil refining industry, water desalination enterprises.

In 1991, during the Gulf War, the city was significantly damaged.
