El-Wakra or Wakra (Arabic: بلدية الوكرة‎) is a city in the Kingdom of Qatar, off the coast of the Persian Gulf. The administrative center of the municipality of El Wakra.

Geography
The city is located in the central-eastern part of the Qatari Peninsula, 5 km south of the country’s capital, Doha. In the east it is washed by the waters of the Persian Gulf.
The area of ​​the city is 62.95 km2. The average altitude in the city is only 4 meters above sea level. Absolute marks exceed marks of 15 meters.

Climate
El Wakra is located in a dry tropical climate zone. Precipitation practically does not fall in summer, and the average temperature in July reaches +35 °C. In winter, the greatest amount of precipitation falls. In January, the average air temperature drops to +17 °C.
