Indore

Indore is the second largest city in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. Located in the natural region of Malwa, in the west of the central part of the state, 190 km west of the city of Bhopal. The administrative center of the district of the same name. The population according to the data for 2011 is 1,960,631 people.

Geography and climate
Indore is located in the western part of Madhya Pradesh at the confluence of the Kham and Saraswati rivers. The city spreads out on a flat plateau at an altitude of about 550 meters above sea level, bounded by the Yardi ridge from the south.

The city was founded in the 18th century. Akhiliei Bai is the daughter-in-law of the head of the Holkar dynasty, Malhar Rao. For a long time it was the capital of the principality of the same name.

At present, Indore is an important business center of the region. The city is home to major steel and automobile manufacturers. Other significant industries include cement, roof tiles, furniture, sports goods, textiles and chemicals.

Transport
Indore Airport (Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport) is located 8 km southeast of the city, serves only local flights to destinations such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bhopal, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, Kolkata and other cities.
