Customs

Singapore customs is convenient and will not cause complications for tourists. In rare and exceptional cases, travelers may be subject to screening and a thorough document check.

Import to Singapore

Singapore Customs allows you to import and export any amount of money duty-free. If the amount is above 30,000 sing. dollars (780,000 rubles) or its equivalent, for example, dollars, euros or traveler’s checks, you must fill out a customs declaration.

If the traveler is over 18 years old, then it is allowed to import:

alcohol – 1 liter of spirits or 1 liter of wine or 1 liter of beer
cigarettes – up to 200 pieces with payment of duty
confectionery and chocolate up to 50 sing. dollars (1,300 rubles)
medicines, in the amount for personal use only
These rules do not apply to those who entered Singapore from the territory of Malaysia, as well as to those who spent less than 48 hours outside Singapore.

Not allowed to be imported into Singapore

It is strictly forbidden to import into Singapore:

chewing gum (except medical chewing gum)
chewing tobacco
gun-shaped lighters
drugs and psychotropic substances
fireworks
toys in the form of banknotes
pornographic products, literature and videos
meat and meat products
“pirated” audio, video and computer programs
Not allowed to be imported into Singapore алкоголь с маркировкой «Singapore duty not paid». The duty is imposed on the import of cigarettes – 7.04 sing. dollar a pack. All cigarettes sold in Singapore are labeled SDPC (Singapore Duty-Paid Cigarettes). Taxi free in Singapore

All goods purchased in Singapore are subject to 7% GST – Goods and Services Tax. The tax is refunded when buying goods in the amount of 100 sing. dollars (2600 rubles) and the condition of departure from the country no later than 2 months after purchase.

In order to receive a tax free refund in Singapore, you must:

When buying in a store, present your passport and ask the seller to issue and sign the completed Tax Free receipt. The receipt must contain the passport details of the buyer.
When leaving Singapore, present receipts, purchases, passport and tickets at the customs office. The customs officer will stamp the tax refund receipt.
Contact the nearest office of the tax refund service, showing the stamped receipt, passport. The money will be returned in cash or by bank transfer.
Tax free will not be refunded if:

Tourist spent more than 365 days in Singapore in the 24 months prior to purchase
Worked in Singapore for 6 months before purchase
Age less than 16
Is a pilot or flight attendant for an aircraft departing from Singapore
