Kurume (久留米市 Kurume-shi) is the central city of Japan, located in Fukuoka Prefecture on the island of Kyushu. Economy
Kurume is one of the ancient centers of handicraft cotton production. The city has developed electric machine-building, food flavoring, radio engineering, chemical and tire industries.

The coat of arms of the city was approved on September 13, 1911. The trees of the city are camellia, camphor tree, serrata zelkova (Zelkova serrata), rounded holly (Ilex rotunda) and juicy sumac (Rhus succedanea). Rhododendron and cosmea were chosen as flowers.
