The import of national and foreign currency is not limited, amounts over AUD10,000 are subject to mandatory declaration.

Duty-free import of up to 1 liter of strong alcoholic beverages is allowed (for persons over 18 years of age); up to 250 cigarettes or 250 grams of tobacco products (for persons over 18 years of age); personal clothing (other than furs) and footwear, personal hygiene items and products, as well as goods and items purchased in Australia, for an amount not exceeding AUD200 per person (adult).

Prohibited the import of food from all countries except Australia and New Zealand; pork and poultry products from New Zealand; fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as plants and their parts.

Permission to import pets must be obtained before traveling to the country and crossing its border. At the same time, animals imported from Australia and New Zealand need only an ordinary international health certificate, while a number of animal breeds from other countries are prohibited for import.

It is forbidden to export samples of plants and animals under state protection, as well as products made from leather, bone, bird feathers, shells and corals. Fruits, vegetables, wood products, plants and seeds (especially Norfolk Pine or Kentia Palm seeds) are subject to mandatory inspection and export permits.

All passengers departing the country are subject to an airport tax of AUD30. Children under the age of 16, heads of state, international mission personnel and crew members on duty are exempt from paying the fee. The fee is collected at the airport directly on the day of departure, or it can be paid in advance at the Island Information Centre.
