Latacunga (Spanish: Latacunga) is a city in the mountainous part of central Ecuador. The administrative center of the province of Cotopaxi and the canton of Latacunga. Population 51,689 people (41.2% of the population of the province of Cotopaxi, INEC, 2001), predominantly mestizos and Indians.

Located near the Cotopaxi volcano at an altitude of 2850 meters above sea level. The average annual air temperature is 12 °C.
