Ras Laffan

Ras Laffan (Arabic رأس لفان‎, English Ras Laffan Industrial City) is one of the three largest industrial centers in Qatar (together with Mesayyid and Dukhan). Located 80 km northeast of Doha.
The main production facilities are aimed at the production of liquefied natural gas (LNG), the conversion of natural gas into liquid motor fuel (LNG technology), and the production of related products. Managed by the state-owned Qatar Petroleum.

Economy
Gas industry
The development of the project started in 1991. The construction of the first LNG plant began in 1994; it produced its first products at the end of 1996.
As of 2016, Qatargas, RasGas, Dolphin Energy, Oryx GTL, Pearl GTL, and others operate in Ras Laffan.
To provide the personnel serving the production with water, powerful desalination plants had to be built.

Port
The construction of the port, intended for the export of liquefied natural gas, gas condensate and sulfur, began in the first quarter of 1992. Two breakwaters were built: the northern one, 6 km long, and the southern one, about 5 km long. Dredging was also carried out.
The design and construction was carried out by the Qatari-Spanish joint venture Condotte Qatar together with the Italian company Grandi Lavori Fincosit.
The first stage of the berth was built in 1996, and in 1997 the construction was completed.
Port имеет четыре погрузочных причала суммарной мощностью 30 млн тонн
Also built are two 300-meter dry-cargo container terminals, each of which can accommodate ships with a deadweight of up to 45,000 tons, a 150-meter berth for heavy cargo, with a 35-meter-wide ro-ro ramp, and a 270-meter long berth for four tugboats, as well as for pilot boats.
In addition, there are two liquid berths capable of accommodating ships with a deadweight of up to 300,000 tons in a partially loaded condition, and a 420-meter berth for offshore drilling platforms.

Shipyard
Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar (NDSQ) was formed in 2010 as a joint venture between Nakilat and Damen Group. The company operates the Erhama Bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard located near Ras Laffan. Shipyard занимает площадь около 15 гектаров и предназначена для ремонта и строительства морских судов. First the vessel is a barge 160 meters long, built in 2012. As of 2016, the shipyard has built more than forty ships.
