Karame

Karame or El-Karama (Arabic الكرامة‎) is a town in Jordan, not far from the King Hussein Bridge, which leads across the Jordan River. The river runs the border between Jordan and the territory of the West Bank, controlled by Israel. Located at an altitude of 188 m below sea level.

Here, on March 21, 1968, the Battle of Karameh took place, which became an important milestone in the history of Fatah. In 1968, the city served as the political and military base of Arafat’s Palestine National Liberation Movement.
