Gyeongsang

Gyeongsan (Korean: 경산시?, 慶山市?, Gyeongsan-si) is a city in Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, South Korea.

Geography
Gyeongsang is located in the southern part of the province of Gyeongsangbuk-do near the city of Daegu, having a common border with it in the west. To the south is Cheongdo County, to the north and east is Yeongcheon County. Gyeongsang is located at the intersection of roads connecting the major industrial centers of the southeast of the country – Busan, Daegu, Pohang and Ulsan.

Tourism and attractions

Economy
Gyeongsang is one of the industrial centers of the country. There are two large industrial complexes – Chinnyan and Chain. The largest of them, the Chinnyang Industrial Complex, was founded in 1994. Now it occupies an area of ​​1.5 million m², the construction of the second and third phases of the complex is underway.

Education
Gyeongsang is one of the centers of education in the region. Higher education institutions such as Yeongnam University, Daegu Catholic University, Daegu University, and Gyeong-il University are located here. In 2006, Gyeongsang hosted the 38th International Chemistry Olympiad.
