Tokcheon

Tokcheon (Korean: 덕천시, 德川市) is a city in North Korea in the province of Pyongannam-do. In the east it borders on the Nyeongwon and Mengsang, Kujang in the north, in the west on the city of Kaechon, in the south on the Phukchang kun. Dokchon is home to the Seungni Automobile Factory, founded in 1950, and various other small plants and factories.

Economy
The Sonni plant and its associated plants were one of several automakers in the DPRK that managed to reproduce cheaper copies of foreign passenger cars and military trucks and developed strongly during the 1970s-1980s under the leadership of Kim Il Sung.
However, the total shortage of foreign credit by the end of the 1980s led the manufacturing industry to a rapid decline. The supply of steel for metalworking fell sharply, but even with this, production lines experienced regular interruptions. 20,000 cars and trucks were produced in Tokchon in 1980. In 1996, there were only 150 of them, all of which were military trucks, and some of which were later modified into MLRS.
