Gyulistan

Gulistan (Azerbaijani Gülüstan, Armenian Գյուլիստան) is a village in Transcaucasia. According to the administrative-territorial division of the Republic of Azerbaijan, it is located in the Goranboy region, according to the administrative-territorial division of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, it is located in the Shaumyan region of the NKR. Until 1991, the village was inhabited by Armenians. Currently, the village is located in close proximity to the line of contact between the armed forces of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and the Republic of Azerbaijan. Due to the fact that before the start of the Karabakh war, the absolute majority of the population of the village was Armenians, and in the summer of 1992, during the Summer Offensive of the Azerbaijani troops, the village came under the control of the Azerbaijanis, the entire population of the village was forced to leave the village. At present, due to its proximity to the contact line, no one lives in the village.

History
On October 12 (24), 1813, after the end of the Russian-Persian war of 1804-1813, the Gulistan peace treaty was signed in the village – an agreement between Russia and Persia (Iran).
According to the agreement, Persia recognized the transition to Russia of Dagestan, Georgia, Megrelia, Imeretia, Guria, Abkhazia and the northern part of modern Azerbaijan where the khanates were located: Baku, Karabakh, Ganja, Shirvan, Sheki, Derbent, Cuba. Part of the Talysh Khanate also went to Russia.
Under the treaty, Russia was granted the exclusive right to have its own navy in the Caspian Sea. Merchants of both countries received the right to free trade.
The accession of a significant part of Transcaucasia to Russia saved the peoples of Transcaucasia from the constant bloody extermination invasions of Persian and Turkish invaders, led to the elimination of feudal fragmentation, involved the region in the general course of progressive economic development, connected the peoples of Transcaucasia with Russian culture and the socio-political movement of Russia.
Persia did not accept the loss of Transcaucasia. Pushed by Great Britain, she soon unleashed a new war against Russia, which ended in the defeat of Persia and the signing of the Turkmenchay peace treaty.
