Drmbon

Drmbon (arm. Դրմբոն)/Kheyvali (azerb. Heyvalı) is a village in Transcaucasia. According to the administrative-territorial division of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, which actually controls the village, it is located in the Martakert region of the NKR, according to the administrative-territorial division of Azerbaijan – in the Kelbajar region of Azerbaijan. The village is located on the right bank of the Sarsang reservoir on the Terter River. The city of Mardakert is 11.6 km away. The population of the village is 645 people, mostly Armenians.

Highway
The North-South highway passes through the village, connecting the northern part of the NKR from Mardakert through Drmbon with Stepanakert and the southern part of the NKR through the Red Bazaar to Hadrut.
The Drmbon-Kelbajar-Vardenis highway passes near Dadivank, a monastery complex of the 9th century. Drmbon-Kelbajar-Vardenis is an alternative road linking the NKR with Armenia. The only highway by which NKR residents can currently get to Armenia and further to the outside world is the 100-kilometer Goris-Stepanakert road. The road serpentine passing through the mountain passes was repaired in 1996 at the expense of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund. In winter, the section of the Goris-Sisian road becomes impassable and a lot of cars accumulate on the road. In this case, the NKR is cut off from the outside world.
The Stepanakert-Drmbon highway is also being repaired at the expense of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund as part of the North-South project. The project was launched in 2000 and involves the repair of a 169-kilometer road passing through Stepanakert and connecting all regions with each other.

Mining and processing plant
The Drmbon Mining and Processing Plant has been operating in Nagorno-Karabakh since the autumn of 2003. The average monthly productivity of the enterprise is 16-18 thousand tons of ore. The concentrate containing gold and copper, obtained as a result of ore processing, is smelted at the Alaverdi Metallurgical Plant in Armenia. Thanks to the new equipment, the Drmbon Mining and Processing Plant now has the opportunity to process up to 30 thousand tons of ore per month. More than 1,100 people work at the enterprise (including 40 residents of Drmbon), whose average salary is 176 thousand drams. The volume of annual production is about 10-11 million dollars. In parallel with production activities, active exploration work is being carried out. The administration of the enterprise plans to complete the study of one or two new deposits within a year and begin their exploitation. The most promising is the deposit in the nearby village of Mehmana. The productivity of the concentrating plant is 450,000 tons per year with the release of copper concentrate. In 2008, it was planned to modernize the flotation department with equipment. In May 2008, the first stage of work was completed: the installation of a five-chamber pneumomechanical flotation machine RIF-25, contact tanks KCh-25 with a capacity of 25 m³, hydrocyclones, automatic modern reagent dispensers UDR-RIF, an automatic pulp level and air flow regulator ASSUP-RV in the chambers flotation machine RIF.

Drmbon during the Karabakh conflict
During the massive summer offensive of the Azerbaijani troops in 1992, the village came under the control of the Azerbaijanis, but soon the Armenians launched a counteroffensive and within three days took control of 9 villages of the Mardakert region, including Drmbon.
