Medical care in South Ossetia is provided free of charge by the state.
Service for outpatients is carried out in the city of Tskhinvali:
– urban adult and children’s polyclinics;
– advisory polyclinic of the Republican Clinical Hospital;
– children’s republican hospital;
– dental clinic;
– psycho-neurological, dermatovenerological and narcological dispensaries.

The only specialized institution of the republic that provides qualified obstetric and gynecological care is the maternity hospital on the territory of the Republican Clinical Hospital, which also provides other types of specialized medical care.
The main diagnostic and laboratory equipment is concentrated in the hospital.
There are 13 departments and auxiliary rooms in the republican hospital.
Since 2014, feldsher-obstetric stations have been operating in regional centers and large villages.
Medical supply is good.
In general, the quality of medical care in South Ossetia with the commissioning of a number of new medical institutions, the involvement of specialists from the Russian Federation, the gradual provision of modern equipment, etc. is improving.

At the same time, in severe cases, some patients prefer to travel to neighboring North Ossetia for treatment.

There is no compulsory health insurance in the Republic of South Ossetia.

The ambulance station (service 103) provides citizens with free medical care. In the city of Tskhinvali, there are state and several private dental clinics, as well as about 20 pharmacies (two of them are on duty).
