To the sharecropper. V.Ya.Chudnovsky, A.K.Nikolsky

the shore or from a boat. You can try your luck on several of these rods at the same time.

It is very similar to the bottom in its design and purpose of the throw rod used for catching fish in such places. The rod here is a short (about 1 m) and flexible rod (rod), which can be wooden, metal or synthetic materials, and is stuck vertically into the ground on the shore. The length of the line is such that it is possible to cast a nozzle 30–40 m from the shore. It is clear that it should be quite strong (Ø 0.5–0.6 mm), a heavy (up to 100 g) sinker is tied to the end of it, and 2–3 leashes are attached to the forest 30–40 cm from it. thinner ones (φ 0.3–0.4 mm), with hooks. Hook size - from number 5 to 8.

Before casting the bait, the line should be carefully laid on the shore, then take its end in hand and, swinging, throw the sinker and the bait to the desired distance. After this, the line usually sags a little, which is why it must be pulled up and tied to the upper tip of the rod. The rest of the forest is fixed on a peg hammered nearby.

The bite of a fish is signaled by a bell attached to the upper end of the rod, or by the oscillation of the latter. You can fish with several of these rods at the same time.

fly fishing rod

In water bodies inhabited by riding fish (trout, grayling, dace, chub, sabrefish), fly fishing is successful. The rod of a fly fishing rod can be made of the same material as the float rod, but its flexibility along the entire length, lightness and elasticity are especially important here. The lines should be twice (or more) as long as the rod.

However, it must be said that fly fishing is not so simple, it requires certain skills and abilities from the angler. Casting a light bait (a fly rod has neither a float nor a sinker) for a decent distance is not easy, especially if the fishing rod is equipped with a conventional forest. This casting is facilitated by a conical forest, that is, one that is thicker at the end of the rod and gradually thins as it approaches the hook. But such forests are extremely rare for sale. The simplest fly fishing line can be done like this: tie several pieces of wood of different thicknesses. The line should be like a continuation of the rod, so its upper end, 300–500 mm long, is superimposed on the end of the rod and wrapped along the entire length with a cord or strong thread.

The most perfect fly fishing rod is one that is equipped with throughput rings and a wire reel.

Methods for catching fish with a float rod

float rod в своем роде универсальна. You can fish on it on the river and on the lake, in stagnant water and in the course, at great depths and in shallow water, near the boat and from the shore, from a raft and from the city embankment. With the help of this fishing rod, sometimes it is possible to fish out large fish. It is easy to get and a nozzle to it. Worms can be found everywhere, but often it is enough to have just a piece of black bread.

The principle of fishing with a float rod is basically the same, regardless of what kind of fish is being caught: casting the nozzle to the desired depth, determining the moment of bite by the movement of the float, hooking and hauling the prey. The specific actions of the angler depend on the type of fish and the place of fishing.

With a float rod, even preschoolers are easy to manage. And yet, in order to catch successfully and not only a trifle that fits in a mayonnaise jar, you need to fulfill certain requirements and know a lot.

The tactics of fishing with a float rod largely depends on where it is carried out: from the shore or from a boat, on a river or lake, from a stationary raft or a moving barge.

On a lake or on a wide river, a boat has an undeniable advantage. On it (if you are fishing on the river) you can swim up to any shore, anchor in the middle, stop at the island. It is not so difficult to choose the best place in any part of the lake.

When fishing from the shore of a river or lake, it is possible, of course, to cast tackle only in the coastal part, but even in this case, the angler is able to change many places and find the most fish-rich areas. But bait will help to attract fish quite quickly. True, it does not always provide continuous nibble. So, you need to either change the place, or take a short break, analyze the situation.

When moving along the shore, one should step carefully, without stomping, do not talk loudly, and when in a boat, do not rattle the oars against the side, try to row silently.

Throwing a bait with a float rod, as already mentioned, is not difficult, but it must be done in such a way as not to cause a loud splash. Violent casts from behind over the head are unacceptable. Firstly, this way you can hook the hook on grass or shrubs, and here, most likely, a cliff is real; second, the float, sinker, and bait will splash into the water with such a loud splash that all the fish will rush away from you. The bait should be thrown as if by rocking the rod away from you, for which, holding the line, lower the rod a little and swing it upwards to send the bait forward.

Different fish bite differently. Perch, for example, most often quickly and confidently drowns the float, roach can “play” with a nozzle, but when biting a bream, the float first lies on its side and only some time later goes to the side and plunges under water. Recognizing the habits of a particular fish comes with experience. Until he comes, it is important to learn only one rule: never rush to strike.

Many anglers, as a result of many years of practice of fishing small fish (we will consider such a fish weighing no more than 100 g), often combine hooking with removing fish from the water, as they say, over the head. This is unacceptable! Firstly, by the course or bite of a fish, a hook with a nozzle can move somewhat and end up near aquatic vegetation, snags and a sharp rise in the rod will lead to a hopeless hook; secondly, such actions scare the fish terribly; thirdly, after all, large fish can also take the nozzle, and it is difficult to determine this by the nature of the bite. It is quite obvious that with such a “fighting” the line will either break, or the hook will unbend (break), or instead of the desired prey, only a particle of the fish lip will remain on it.

Therefore, cutting should always be done quickly, but not too abruptly. Feeling something very tangible on the hook, the angler must immediately stop the forceful actions and decide on the method of playing the fish. First of all, you need to use the flexibility of the rod, which will help absorb the jerks of the fish, for this and must be kept in the correct position.

When playing large prey, one should not linger, but rush is also unacceptable. It is necessary to gradually, but steadily pull the catch towards you, making pauses during especially strong jerks. If the fish is already resisting too much, then for some time it should be led, without giving, however, any slack, and, having tired enough, resolutely pull it up to the landing net.

Imagine that you are fishing from a shallow bank. Here you need to pull the fish into shallow water or even into the shallows and take it with your hands, and when fishing from a high bank, it is unlikely that you will succeed in catching large fish without a landing net or gaff (given the fragility of the forest).

When fishing from a boat, the fish must be brought to the board itself (in no case should it be allowed to go under the boat) and removed from the water using the same landing net or gaff.

If the float rod is equipped with a reel with a supply of lines, then it is easy to use it for fishing in wiring, only it is better to choose such sections of the river where the nozzle will float a decent distance without nailing to the shore and not encountering obstacles in the form of aquatic vegetation or twisted places. The release of a hook with a nozzle to one or another depth can be varied. The nozzle should be thrown to a place where it will be picked up by the current, but if it is weak, then the descent of the line from the reel is facilitated by winding it manually.

The fish usually takes a floating bait more confidently, and therefore the cutting should be done instantly, as soon as the float disappears under water.

It is handy to catch in the wiring both from the shore and wading, from bridges and rafts.
